Nighttime Supplements for Quality Sleep with ADHD

Posted on May 21, 2026June 5, 2026 By Mere Penny

(My Current Stack I Use Nightly)

Sleep was one of my biggest ADHD struggles for years. Since building a consistent nighttime supplement stack, I fall asleep faster, sleep more deeply, and wake up feeling more restored.

My Nighttime Sleep Stack (Taken 30–60 min before bed)

Core supplements I take every night:

  1. Magnesium Glycinate (300–400 mg) + Magnesium L-Threonate Calms the nervous system and supports deeper sleep.
  2. Glycine (3–5 g) Helps me fall asleep faster and improves sleep quality.
  3. GABA Quiets racing thoughts.
  4. Myo-Inositol Supports calm and mood stability.
  5. 5-HTP Boosts serotonin (which helps with melatonin production).
  6. Krill Oil with Astaxanthin Anti-inflammatory benefits that may support sleep over time.

What the Research Says (Quick Highlights)

  • Magnesium: Strong evidence linking magnesium deficiency to worse ADHD symptoms and sleep issues. Supplementation often helps with relaxation and sleep.
  • Glycine: Multiple studies show 3g before bed improves subjective sleep quality, reduces fatigue, and helps with next-day alertness.
  • 5-HTP: May support sleep by increasing serotonin/melatonin.
  • Astaxanthin: Emerging research suggests it may help with sleep quality by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, especially in people with higher stress or low mood.

How I Take Them + Tips

  • Pill organizer every night
  • Paired with my evening wind-down routine
  • Consistency > perfection
  • Taken with small snack

Real Results I’ve Noticed

  • Faster sleep onset
  • Fewer wake-ups
  • Better mood & focus the next day
  • Reduced nighttime RSD spirals

Final Thoughts

This stack isn’t magic, but it gives my ADHD brain the support it needs to actually rest. Start small (magnesium glycinate is a fantastic first try) and listen to your body. I can’t imagine life without my nighttime supplements at this point in my ADHD journey.

Have you tried any of these at night? Drop your experiences below – I read every comment, and I’m always looking to learn!
