(Try These To Build Your Wealth This Year!)
We often think building wealth requires big dramatic moves. But after years of trial and error, I’ve learned that small, consistent habits are what actually move the needle.
The key? Staying committed long-term and being realistic that real progress takes time. There are no overnight success stories here… just steady, compounding effort. Some months feel slow, and that’s normal. The magic happens when you keep going anyway.
Here are the 7 small habits I’m focusing on in 2026 that are quietly building my wealth:

1. Tracking My Net Worth Monthly
Every month I log into my accounts and update a simple spreadsheet. Seeing the numbers move (even slowly) keeps me motivated and aware of where my money is going.
2. Automating Savings & Investments
I have automatic transfers set up the day after I get paid. Money goes into my emergency fund, TFSA, and investments before I can spend it. Paying myself first has been life-changing.
3. Daily Learning (15–30 minutes)
I spend a short time every day learning about personal finance, investing, or business. Whether it’s a podcast, book, or YouTube video, consistent learning compounds into better decisions.
4. Protecting My Time & Energy
My health and morning routine directly impact my ability to earn and create. Better energy = better focus at work + more capacity for side projects. Wealth starts with having the energy to show up.
5. Saying “No” More Often
I’ve gotten much better at protecting my time and money. Every “no” to things that don’t serve my goals creates space for better opportunities.
6. Creating Multiple Income Streams
Even small ones. My blog, affiliate income, and a couple small side projects are growing. I don’t need any single stream to be huge; I just need several working together.
7. Practicing Gratitude for What I Already Have
This might sound soft, but it’s powerful. Being grateful reduces impulsive spending and keeps me focused on long-term growth instead of short-term gratification.
The Most Important Part: Long-Term Commitment
None of these habits work if you only do them for a few weeks. The real results come from staying consistent even when you don’t see instant progress. Some months you’ll move forward quickly, others will feel stagnant; that’s normal.
Wealth building is a marathon, not a sprint. Being realistic about the timeline while staying committed is what separates those who succeed from those who quit too early.
My Honest Results So Far
These habits aren’t sexy, but they’re working. I’m seeing:
- Steadier financial progress month after month
- Less money stress and more confidence
- Better decisions with both time and money
- A growing sense of control over my financial future
How to Start These Habits
You don’t need to implement all 7 at once. Pick 1 or 2 that feel easiest and build from there:
- Start with automating one savings transfer
- Block 15 minutes tomorrow morning for learning
- Track your net worth this weekend
Small actions, done consistently, create massive results over time.
